trans·hu·mance
noun
the action or practice of moving livestock from one grazing ground to another in a seasonal cycle.
Immerse yourself in the world of seasonal herders through a wonderful selection of photographs of transhumance farmers from other parts of Europe and the world. Transhumance farming where still practiced has ancient cultural roots and as a low-input practice adapted to its local environment, holds the key to the future of sustainable farming for us all with benefits to biodiversity as well as climate. This exhibition is funded by the National Parks and Wildlife Service Community Engagement Scheme.
