A Winterage Session; poetry, music and dance in celebration of actions for nature, Kinvara

We invite you to some drinks and nibbles at 8pm before the event begins at 8:30pm

An evening of poetry, dance, music and images on the theme of connecting to and taking actions for our landscapes. This event is part of Burrenbeo's Turas – Journeys in Stewardship, a Creative Climate Action project supported by Creative Ireland.

Featuring poet Jane Clarke, dancer Edwina Gluckian, traditional musician Jack Talty along with Floriane Blancke, Brendan O'Regan and a strings selection from the Kinvara Community Orchestra.

Jane Clarke: is the author of three poetry collections and an illustrated poetry booklet. Her three collections were published by Bloodaxe Books, The River  in 2015, When the Tree Falls in 2019 and A Change in the Air in 2023. Jane's third full-length collection A Change in the Air was longlisted for the Laurel Prize 2023 for nature and ecopoetry and is shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Collection 2023.

Jack Talty: is an award-winning traditional musician, composer, producer, academic, and founder of the Raelach Records label. In 2021, he was appointed to the post of Lecturer in Irish Traditional Music at the Department of Music at University College Cork. As a performer Jack has toured extensively throughout Europe, the United States, Australia, and Asia, and he has contributed to over 100 albums to date as a musician, producer, composer, arranger, and engineer. 

Edwina Guckian: Dancer Edwina Guckian comes from a family steeped in the tradition of music and dance, and her style is greatly influenced by the style of local music she grew up with across Leitrim and Roscommon. She is the recepient of Gradam Comaoine TG4 award for her outstanding contribution to culture, she was selected for the Markievicz Award by the Arts Council and Department of An Taoiseach and in February 2024 Edwina launched her first book for children called ‘Sparks from the Flagstones’ – a treasury of Irish Folk Traditions and Calendar Customs.
